Week of October 18th

Hello Parents,

Here are a couple of updates for our Third graders. In social studies we are learning about the Native American tribes in California and will be introducing an activity to the students this week or next once we complete the lessons in the classroom. Students will have time to collect and bring in materials to work in small groups and create a scaled model of a Native American shelter. It’ll be a “shoe box” sized model using sticks, grass, dirt, playdough, etc. A flyer will come home once we are ready to start. This is a collaborative activity will students will participate in bartering supplies/ materials with the other tribes (student groups) just as the Native Americans would have done. I’ll have colored construction paper and some material available as well.

Next, as we get back up to speed this 2nd quarter we’d like to thank you for your support at home. The students are doing a great job adapting to being in the classroom again, both academically and socially. However, some students may need more support at home to establish a daily homework routine. The additional opportunity of sharing with you what they are working on helps to solidify their understanding of the lessons they are learning in the classroom. Please reach out to your classroom teachers if you have any questions.

Have a great week!

Week of October 11th

Hello Parent’s,

Welcome to Fall! We had our first rainy day schedule in a long time last week. That means indoor recess, so I’m sure the student’s came home with some extra energy. 🙂

Coming up this week students will be taking school pictures on Thursday. The Third grade is scheduled to take pictures right after lunch. If you didn’t get a flyer sent home on Friday, look for it in your child’s homework folder on Monday.

Have a great week!
