Week of January 25th

Hi Parents,

Our “Astronauts” performance task will continue to be a focus this week. Please check in with your child to make sure they are staying up to date with the writing process and assignments. We are also starting to work on Fractions with the students. There are a lot of real world examples from cooking and baking to recognizing patterns all around us. Check out their homework and feel free to ask them questions and let them share with you what they are learning. They may ask for a chocolate bar so they can show you how it is divided into equal pieces. 😉

Week of January 11th

Hello Parents and Families of Wolf Canyon,

This week the 3rd Graders will be taking their mid-year assessments in both iReady (math) and Achieve (reading comprehension). We have Tuesday and Wednesday earmarked for iReady during our normal math times, and we will be administering the Level Set (Achieve assessment) on Thursday morning. Please note, that iReady will be broken into (2) approximately 20 minute sessions.

It is very important that students have a quiet and uninterrupted area to work during this time. They should not receive any help from family members so that their scores represent what they know. The results help guide our planning and lessons. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions. Thank you.
