Week of November 18th

This week in:

Language Arts-  Continue with Point of View and be able to determine my own point of view from that of the narrator and/ or character.

Math–  Solving Division problems using equal groups.

Writing- Introduce and model the Opinion writing format

Social Studies/ Science-  Exploring how being similar to its parents, helps an organism to survive.

 With your child:   “Is Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk the villain?” (He did steal from the giant…)  We’ll be reading and discussing this story this week.

Math–  Solving Division problems using equal groups.

Writing- Narrative writing performance task (Assessment) and Informative writing performance task.

Social Studies/ Science-  California Native Americans- Wrap up in class discussions and activities about local natives and Native American legends.

With your child:   “How does your teacher make you feel important?” (Use this to identify what your student values in a relationship.  Share something you remember about your 3^rd grade teacher.)
