We’re all getting excited for this year’s Family STEAM night, this Thursday the 31st.
Free Scheduled activities start at *6:15pm, space is limited for these. If you miss the first one, there will be two more scheduled later in the evening. (6:45 and 7:15)
There are also many other activities with open schedules you can just walk up to and participate in. These will be from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Your student should have brought home a school activity map and planner last week. If not, we’ll have an information booth in the Multi-Purpose Room.
Food trucks will be open for business by *5:30pm. A portion of the proceeds will come back to the school to support our technology night, so come early and beat the rush.
Our 3rd grade station will be in the Multi-Purpose Room.
*Notes updated times.
This week in:
Language Arts– Explain the author’s message.
Writing– “Astronauts Activity” Use two text sources to answer multiple prompts on the subject. We will be using these texts to write informative and opinion responses as well as for writing a narrative. This will be a multi-week process.
Math– Begin our unit on fractions. Chapter 8 in GoMath. Our first focus is on developing an understanding of fractions as numbers and that a fraction represents a whole being partitioned into equal parts.
Social Studies- Continue learning about California’s native tribes. Students will learn about tribal trading and government.
Question to ask your child: “What is a fraction?” (A fraction represents a whole being partitioned into equal parts. For example, our pizza was cut into 8 equal slices. I ate 2 pieces which is 2/8 (two-eighths) of the whole pizza.)
