Summer Santa

This week in:

Language Arts– Identify the problem and solution, characters and setting for story Stone Soup.

Writing– Finish current Opinion writing using facts from informative articles on the prompt “Should Dogs Work?”

Math– Chapter 11-  Area and Perimeter.   Area assessment on Thursday.

 

Question to ask your child:  1) “How do animals change their environments?” (For example, beavers cut down trees to build their homes and to create dams. This reduces shady areas, but creates a bigger aquatic area.)

Language Arts– Answer text dependent questions and continue work on identifying Key Events and Summarizing using folk tales.

Writing– Opinion writing using facts from informative articles

Math– Chapter 11-  Area and Perimeter

Science- Exploring what causes changes in an environment and how organisms can change their environment.

 

Question to ask your child:  1) “What is the difference between Area and Perimeter?  (Area is the measurement of the inside of a shape given in square units, and the Perimeter is a measurement of the outside of a shape given in units.  We are working on centimeters and inches.)

Language Arts– Continue Work on identifying Key Events and summarizing using folk tales.

Writing– Opinion writing using facts from informative articles

Math– Chapter 11- Perimeter Test, moving onto Area

Science- Who Would Win activity reviewing animal adaptations.

Question to ask your child:  1) “What animal did you pick for the Who Would Win activity?”  “Is your animal going to win?” “Why or why not?” “What adaptations does it have? (Structural adaptations would include features like sharp teeth, powerful legs/ arms, large claws, speed, etc.)
