Spelling- No spelling words this week

Writing– Friendly Letters, Poems

Math– Geometry- Chapter 12, Review lessons on Time, Area and Perimeter

Science- Force and Motion: Using Static Electricity, Air and Magnets to escape gravity

Question to ask your child:  “What skills/ knowledge did they practice/ learn this year that they’ll use next year?” (Close Reading, multiplication, Division, Fractions, California History: People and Places, Science Experiments, etc.)

Math– Review Fractions and continue with Geometry

Science- Continue our unit on Force and Motion: Gravity

Question to ask your child:  “Can static electricity be used to escape gravity?” (Yes, think about when you rub a balloon on your hair.  Your hair will stand up because of the electrical charge and “escape” gravity.)

Week of May 7th

Students are encouraged to bring in their own headphones or earbuds for testing.  They may be more comfortable in them.  The school will provide headphones/ earbuds to students as needed.

Math– Review Liquid Volume, Mass and Geometry

Science- Continue our unit on Force and Motion: Gravity

 

Question to ask your child:  “What causes an object to slow down or stop?” (Newton’s First Law lets us know an object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by another force.  Friction is one example of a force that slows and stops objects.)
