Week of January 30th

Great job 3rd Graders on your Science Projects!  They looked great and your in class presentations were terrific!

This week in:

Language Arts–  Continue with Trickster Tales. Continue working on the Close Reading strategy and text dependent questions using various KidBiz Articles and works of fiction.

Spelling Words Hard vs. Soft “c” and the Prefix in-.

Achieve homework “A Sea of Garbage”. Students are to type their Thought Question response, print it and glue or staple it into their KidBiz Journals.

Social Studies- Continue learning about California Native Americans. This week: Trade, Government, Customs and Folklore.

Writing–  Writing an informational response to multiple texts in preparation of the Smarter Balance State Test. Ask your child about the “Astronaut” articles.

Math– Chapter 8: Understanding Fractions. Students may log on to Think Central to practice current lessons by clicking on “Interactive Student Edition”. The Go Math!/ Think Central web page link is on the right of this page. “Step by Step” help is available during the Personal Math Trainer portion of the lesson. Lesson videos can be found within each lesson, or by going to “Math on the Spot Videos”. Chapter 8 Test is scheduled for Friday.

Spelling Words are back! Test on Friday.

* Science project are due Monday, January 23. Students will begin presenting to their classmates on Tuesday.

No Spelling Words or Achieve this week for homework so students may focus on their science projects.  Science project are due Monday, January 23.

Writing–  Written informational response to multiple texts in preparation of the Smarter Balance State Test.

Math– Wrap up Chapter 7 on Division. Begin Chapter 8: Understanding Fractions. Students may log on to Think Central to practice current lessons. The link is on the right of this page.
