Homework:

Over the break, we would like students to work on their Trickster Tales. Rough drafts need to be typed and emailed to your child’s teacher by Friday, April 10. If your child would like to create a hard-back book, the cost is $3. This is a fun third grade tradition, and we encourage all students to create a wonderful keepsake to share with friends and family.

We have issued a Spring Break KidBiz Challenge to students! Any students who earn 75% or higher on at least 3 activities between March 21 and April 4 will be eligible to have lunch in the classroom with their teacher. This was very successful over the Winter Break, so keep those kiddos reading!!

Looking Ahead:

  • Spring Break: March 23 – April 3; school resumes on Monday, April 6 and is a REGULAR Day (not a minimum day, as previously stated).
  • Intergenerational Games Field Trip: April 9. Please be at school by 8:15, as we will be leaving Wolf Canyon by bus around 8:30. Please send students in comfortable clothing that they can be active in. Please let your child’s teacher know ASAP if he or she will need to order a sack lunch from the cafeteria.

We are conducting 2 online parent surveys now through March 20. Both parents/guardians in a household may take the survey once.

Week of March 2, 2015

March 2 – 6 is Literacy Week – Read Across America! In honor of Dr. Seuss and the love of reading – Monday, March 2 is Pajama Day.

Parent Conferences are 3/12-3-19. If you have not yet done so, please return the sign-up sheet with your top three choices clearly marked with 1, 2, and 3. We will assign conference times based on a first-returned, first-served basis.

Please remember that students are now supposed to type their Thought Questions response on the computer, then print it out and attach it to a blank page in the journal. Articles and Thought Question responses do NOT have to be completed in one sitting! We would prefer that students complete it in multiple sittings, so they do not burn out. They are only assigned one homework article per week so that they can work on it throughout the week. If you have issues with your printer at home, let your child’s teacher know and we can discuss the situation. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.
