Week of February 23, 2014

Thank you to everyone who has donated money to Pasta for Pennies! We sure went out with a bang! And a HUGE thanks to everyone who donated to the American Heart Association for Jump Rope for Heart! Wolf Canyon raised over $6,000 for people with heart disease! That’s more than TWICE what we raised last year! WOW!!

Parent Conferences are 3/12-3-19. Please return the sign-up sheet with your top three choices clearly marked with 1, 2, and 3. We will assign conference times based on a first-returned, first-served basis.

Please remember that students are now supposed to type their Thought Questions response on the computer, then print it out and attach it to a blank page in the journal. Articles and Thought Question responses do NOT have to be completed in one sitting! We would prefer that students complete it in multiple sittings, so they do not burn out. They are only assigned one homework article per week so that they can work on it throughout the week. If you have issues with your printer at home, let your child’s teacher know and we can discuss the situation. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.

We will not be having Valentine’s Day parties in class; however, it is optional to bring Valentines to school on Thursday, February 12. If you do send Valentines, please send one for every child in your class. Please do not include food in your Valentines, as we have students with severe food allergies. This includes candy and gum.

And while we’re on the subject, please discuss with your child the importance of not sharing food at school, and not bringing any candy, mints, gum, breath-fresheners, etc. to school. As mentioned previously, we have students with severe allergies, and these items can be a hazard.

I must also mention that before, during, and after school, students are only allowed to use student-only bathrooms. Students must use bathrooms labeled “Boys” or “Girls,” and are not allowed in the bathrooms that are labeled “Men” or “Women.” In addition, adults must use the adult-only restrooms. This is for the safety of our students.
