  • Writing: we are continuing Informational Writing, using the KidBiz article “A Map to a New Sunflower?”
  • Math: Measurement
  • Social Studies: we are continuing our unit on Native Americans of California.

Homework:

  • Homework will be due Monday, November 3.
  • Spelling: vowel partners: ee
  • KidBiz Article: “Saving Dolphins and More” **THOUGHT QUESTION DUE THIS WEEK!!!**
  • Multiplication: 8s test coming soon! Please continue to study all the multiplication facts we have covered so far (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10)

Reminders:

The Military Family Life Program is going on now! If you are a military family, and would like some extra support for your student, please fill out the permission slip that was sent home, or contact your student’s teacher to get one. This is a great NO-COST resource, and we hope you take advantage of it!

Please be sure to send your child to school in appropriate footwear. We have PE every day, and it is important that students wear comfortable, close-toed shoes.

If you have not yet turned in your CYT field trip permission slip and money, it’s not too late! Please turn it in ASAP!

Don’t forget to return your library books!

Week of October 20, 2014

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who supported the Wolf Canyon PTA by attending the Masquerade Ball! It was a lot of fun, and we are already looking forward to next year’s event!

This week is Red Ribbon Week. Our theme this year is “Drugs are Despicable.” How you can participate in Red Ribbon Week:

  • Monday: Team up and tackle drugs and alcohol by wearing your favorite sports apparel
  • Tuesday: Drugs make you crazy; Crazy hair Day
  • Wednesday: Being drug free is my super power: dress up as a super hero (no masks)
  • Thursday: Double your pleasure and stick together against drugs and bullying: Twin day
  • Friday: Show your support for Red Ribbon Week: Wear red clothing

Friday is also Law Enforcement Day at Wolf Canyon, where students can meet some of our local law enforcement heroes!

This week in:

  • Writing: we are continuing Informational Writing, using the KidBiz article “A Map to a New Sunflower?”

  • Social Studies: we are continuing our unit on Native Americans of California.

We’d like to give a HUGE round of applause to our parents who came to the parent-teacher conferences before Fall Break! Our partnership and your support are vital to helping your student succeed. Thank you!

Got KidBiz questions? There is a parent training tomorrow night (Tuesday, October 14) at 6 pm in the Wolf Canyon library. A representative from Achieve 3000/KidBiz will be there to answer questions and give you tips on how you can support your student with this awesome resource.

This week in:

  • Language Arts: we will continue to focus on Fiction Elements, Story Structure, and Sequence. We will also focus on how to write the KidBiz Thought Question.
  • Writing: we are continuing Informational Writing, using the KidBiz article “A Map to a New Sunflower?”
  • Math: we will be working on counting by 5s and 1s to tell time and solving word problems involving time.
  • Social Studies: we are continuing our unit on Native Americans of California.
